PA to the Head of Sugar (0154)



ED&F Man looking to recruit an experienced, flexible, efficient and capable PA to work for the Head of the Sugar Business unit.  The successful candidate will have solid experience working at a senior PA level supporting a senior manager within a fast paced and demanding environment.

 You will be able to present yourself in a professional manner and will hold strong communication skills.  It is essential that you are very flexible and able to adapt and respond to the ever changing business needs and schedules, willing to work longer hours when required. 



  • Proactive diary management, being the first point of contact for the diary, prioritising and updating and rearranging the diary at short notice
  • Manage and organise various divisional and business unit management committees, their agendas and distribution lists minute taking in the committees themselves
  • Arranging meetings both in the UK and overseas
  • Extensive business travel organisation for complex trips, including full itinerary management of meetings and briefing packs, cars, flights, hotels, visas etc.
  • Expense management of multi-currency expenses
  • Full secretarial and administrative support, including creating and updating presentations, marketing materials and typing correspondence.
  • Prepare and distribute papers for the trading management committee
  • Maintain contact whilst he is travelling and ensuring all necessary information is passed on
  • Fielding and redirecting calls as required
  • Participate as the senior member of the Sugar PA team, providing support, holiday coverage and working as a team on events and projects as required
  • Manage events that are organised for the Sugar Business Unit
  • Provide seamless support to visiting senior management when they are in London
  • Line management of the Junior PA who supports some SMC members and another BU leader.



  • Experience working as a PA with substantial experience of providing one to one support in a fast paced international environment.
  • Must be highly flexible and able to adapt and respond to changing business needs and schedules and be willing to work extra hours as required
  • Excellent customer service ethos
  • Must be well presented and able to communicate with confidence.
  • Strong IT skills in Excel, PowerPoint and word, with a typing speed of at least 50wpm and a high level of accuracy
  • Must be highly accurate and have a keen eye for detail
  • Must be capable of multi tasking and prioritising competing demands and deadlines effectively
  • Additional languages would be desirable

Established in 1783, ED&F Man is an employee-owned agricultural commodities merchant with 7,000 people in 60 countries and annual revenue in excess of $10bn.  We trade sugar, coffee, molasses, animal feed, grains and pulses. We help our counterparties manage price risk through hedging and provide access to commodity and capital markets through our brokerage business.

We source or process raw, white and specialty sugars from over 40 producing countries. We sell to refineries, industrial users, wholesalers, retailers and consumers, offering local solutions though a  number of in-country purchasing, sales and distribution businesses. We have also invested in a food technology company to launch a stevia sweetener with the flavour and mouth feel of sugar.

As a founding member of Bonsucro, all our processing operations and trading hubs have the highest sustainability credentials and we play an active role in developing the sustainability agenda.
